Every mother or father has probably used the power of suggestion in their parenting strategy or in their discussions with their spouses at one time or another. We all suggest something to do that is an acceptable activity or goal. This power is the easiest to use and doesn't step on toes. It empowers the person you talk to make their own decision while being led in the direction you might want them to go.
I spent some time in Kira's classroom today and was amazed at how these kids are persuaded by what I suggested. We made beaded braclets and necklaces for their friends and family. Some kids took my suggestion and others came up with their own idea. I respect that. I hope I can teach my children to use the power of suggestion in their friendships without being a bully or know-it-all. I also hope they will not be persuaded by every person that comes along! Every day brings new challanges. This is why we need absolute truth to guide us in all our decisions. With out the truths that Jesus exemplifies we are lost and indecisive, running here and there without a purpose.
