How do we see life?

I put a glass in front of my kids today and asked them both how much water was in the glass. Kira said "it's half gone mommy I'll go fill it up for you!" Derek said "You still have some left mommy!" These are two different perspectives and they are both right! (There really is no wrong answer) It helped me see their indivdual personalities. Kira saw the cup half empty which would be a pessimistic viewpoint, however she had a postive solution to the problem! Derek on the other hand had an optimistic viewpoint from the beginning, yet may not have seen the future need right away. I now have insight into my next parenting strategy! See life with a realistic yet positive lense. Look for the needs in others and help them find a solution.

I personally am an optimistic person. I like to see what is good in others and encourage them any way I can. It doesn't always happen, I'm human. I admit I get upset. I was standing in line at the grocery store with an unhappy child when the cashier decided to run outside to take a grocery bag to the person in front of me who left it, while I and 4 other people wait. It was all I could do to smile when she came back and ask if she caught her; even if that is not what I really wanted to say. Kira watched the whole thing and immediately wanted to help! I can't put a price on that spirit! It was encouraging to me to see her display the attitude I should have been thinking! Children watch your every move and that day the Holy Spirit taught us both a lesson! Kira watched my reaction and I watched hers! God is always watching out for our hearts!
