Just keep Swimming..

Dori is a blue fish on the Disney movie Nemo. Dori's famous saying is "Just keep swimming." She and Nemo's father, a clown fish, are friends that are swimming hundreds of miles to find Nemo who was captured by a diver in the sea. During these hundreds of miles they encounter various trials of the sea. Sharks, jellyfish, deep ravines, getting lost. etc. Dori's attitude through the whole movie is somewhat oblivious yet positive. Her encouragement during each trial is "Just keep swimming!"
This came to mind after listening to Tony Evans last night.

Tony Evans had a great broadcast on WCTL last night about Where in the world are You? He told a true story about the first woman who swam across the English Channel. Her name is Gertrude Ederle. Her first attempt began and lasted close to 15 hours. The fog was dense and she was getting very weary and couldn't see anymore. She told her mom, who was in the boat next to her, that she couldn't do it anymore. Her mom encouraged her to go about 55 min longer, but she couldn't do it and quit. Once she got in the boat, the fog lifted and she could see shore about a half a mile off. She was that close.

She attempted the swim again at a later date. That day was more foggy than the first. Her mother asked her if she really wanted to try again today and she said YES! Her mother questioned why. Gertrude's response was I can do this. I have a picture of the shoreline on the other side in my head. I won't forget it. She made it that time in less than 15 hours.

We can't always see the shoreline, but God promises that it's there! If our focus is on Christ we WILL make it!

Just an encouraging story today!
