Bad words...

Derek is adjusting to kindergarten. He is playing with some new friends now. It was a little hard on him when his friend from preschool said "we are only kinda friends now." His friends play with other kids now. Derek said they say bad words mommy. I asked him what they said that was bad. He put both hands up around his mouth and whispered "they said stupid and hate and I don't really want to play with them anymore" I then felt a little relieved it wasn't worse. I had to explain that calling someone stupid is not nice, but if you say "that was a stupid thing I did" that's different that's okay. Telling someone you hate them isn't nice either, but if you are referring to the bee that stung you. That's okay.

The C___ is not a nice word either. CRAP. I got my mouth washed out with soap for saying that word when I was 12! Is that really a bad word? I think my mom had PMS that day. (I'm a women I can say that.) Im not perfect!!

I love to hear about life from the eyes of a child! I am glad he has remembered his manners and I hope he continues to be polite. I pray for that!
