God has blessed me with a wonderful husband who has taken me to Las Vegas to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary!
We had some much needed time reconnecting and experiencing the joys of our relationship and even learning new things about each other.
We stayed at The Orleans hotel about 1 mile off the strip. Great Hotel rooms and spa! The buffet was the second best under the Spice market Buffet!
Hugh has been there before and saw the gondola ride in the Venetian Hotel. It has a boat ride you can take inside the hotel on the third floor!! He came back after that trip and wanted to take me there just to ride this gondola!
Here is the story. We get to the hotel and walk through the hotel which looks like the actual streets of Venice. We get to the river which runs the length of the hotel. He showed it to me and said "Let's move on" I am thinking that I am NOT leaving until we rode this ride! At first I thought he was playing with me until he said we saw it let's go! At that point I was going even if he didn't! I became very exticed and verbal about my desire to ride this boat so I bought the tickets and I was going on whether he was or not. Well He did go and It was very nice and we were even serenaded by an Italian singer (gondola driver) How romantic!! (That's what I learned about my husband) He only does things if he knows I REALLY want to do it! What was I thinking, for 10 years I have waited for him to want to take me places, Men don't read minds and they only respond to euphoric verbal excitement! WOW!!
What an exciting city in the middle of a desert. They don't lack things to do there! I like country music(the popular stuff) so we ate lunch at Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar" Country music, great food, country line dancers and videos all over!
We gambled a small amount and won pennies but nothing of real value. It was fun though. I can see where people get hooked thinking "The next spin I'll hit it" and loose alot of money.
The only thing missing is a beach! Not for long! Now the Mandalay Bay Hotel is putting in a Surf and swim area that looks just like a real beach with sand and all that goes with it like the surf shops and umbrella drink bars! That's my kind of place!
There were light shows at the Bellagio, Mirage, Treasure Island and Fremont Street downtown! And inside Cesar's Palace!
I noticed the efficiency of such a busy airport and city. We were a little in the dark about where to go to find a way to our hotel. When we got off the plane, because of the signs and airport personel, we knew exactly where to get our bags and get a taxi. There were stations set up with bellhops to help us get one. My husband hates to wait (so do I) for much of anything and He was a trooper the whole time!! That's how efficient it was.
The all day bus pass was the way to go! We must have walked 20 miles each day. We ate at the #1 dinner buffet called the Spice Market Buffet in the Planet Hollywood Hotel. If you could think of any food you wanted to eat they had it! They even cut the crab legs in half lengthwise so you didn't have to dig the meat out! The two other buffets we went to did not do that! The desserts were the best at the Caesar's Palace Buffet. We will have to catch a show next time. There was so much to see at every hotel we didn't miss going to a show.
Vegas has set a standard for artistic reconstruction and architechture. The speed and efficiency they use in building new hotels bigger than the one before is unmatched!
We made some memories to last a lifetime!

Vegas rocks. I have been there a few times. What a great city. Glad you guys enjoyed the time and had a chance to reconnect for awhile. We all need that!
Hey Sharyn!
I am so glad that you & Hugh had such a great time in Vegas! I knew you would love it. Sounds like you saw a lot! I am glad you got to reconnect and enjoy your time together.
Thankfully you didn't get stranded there...maybe someday we'll go back, but not anytime soon. Perhaps for my 20th anniversary...
We need to plan our next get-away. Let me know what you are thinking.
