Fatherhood means responsibility, sacrifice, leadership, discipline, expression of the truth, and lots an lots of love and patience!! My husband is very good at keeping schedules! He will make whatever adjustment that needs to be made to keep on schedule. He will lead through his firm words and actions when a decision needs made. Most importantly he leads by example. We all know when Dad says it's time to go, it's TIME to go!
Here is a personal story on father's day. I got up and got the kids ready for church and then myself. My husband now gets up and is ready in 5 minutes! It seems no matter how early I get up something always holds me up. The kids clothes were picked out the night before and ready to go. Sunday School lessons were done and all we had to do was get dressed! Well 4 and 5 years olds now change their minds on what they want to wear, when they don't really have a choice so now we have a 5 minute struggle delay setting us back. It takes patience to forgive when schedules can't be followed to the minute. It takes humility when things don't go as planned and our expectations aren't always met. We get to church and the Father's day message was on God's timing!!! We never know why we are set back sometimes, but God knows our every need and He demonstrates his ultimate timing and faithfulness. He rewards our discipline and sacrifices we make to stay on a time schedule, yet His perfect love and patience comfort us when we fail to keep that schedule. Thank God for His example, because in our humanness we need His unfailing and unconditional love!
