My baby is now is school all day long!!! I did shed a small tear about an hour after he got on the bus. He gave me a heavy hug before he got on and had the look of insecurity on his face. I stayed at the bus stop until the bus went around the block and passed our street again. By then he was smiling and waved. Later that night Kira said the Kindergarten aide came to her room to tell her that Derek was crying as he was walked with his class to the bus line to go home. Kira came out and assured him that Hugh and I would be waiting at the bus stop for him when he got off. That calmed him down again. He got home and gave us a huge smile and gave us all the details of the day. He met new friends and played with the old friends from preschool at recess. He got to play with a "talking ball" in class. This is a squishy ball that you pass around and when you get it you get to talk. That was his favorite part.
Kira has a great class this year! All her friends are back and three new girls too! She is so independent and seems to have everything together this year. What a veteran! She loves her teacher. Kira's favorite part was having Mia in her class again and word searches.
As for me the first day of school, I got to clean an empty rental apartment to get ready for new tenants on the 1st. I don't mind working a couple of hours to get a steady paycheck every month! I have to tell myself that every time I open a stinky fridge that hasn't been cleaned for a couple of weeks!
God has been good providing when we need help. Our tenant moved out in July so it has been empty two months. We had a renter that backed out at the last minute and one that said she would be paying a week late. (Part of the business) We didn't get paid for another week and the bills seemed to all be due at the same time so we were low on cash. I called the International institute to put our name on the list for potential renters and the girl in charge there asked if she could see the apartment as soon as possible! Hugh showed it too her within an hour and she said she had a family from Nepal coming on Tuesday and our place would be perfect. We did have to make 6 screens from scratch for two days to comply with code, but we did it and she has it rented for Sept. We trust her and she takes care of the rent too! Thank you God! We are never left alone and God knows our need and he provides!
Just a little update. Fill your days with hope. It's a gift God gives and no one can take it away!!
